Magical Realm (Short Story)

After the tornado I land in a strange place where Characters from cartoons and video games have come to life, I look up and in the sky I see Captain Planet flying past chasing a falling aeroplane, he catches it just before it lands on me. I am amazed by what I’ve seen and he smiles at me and flies away.

The Edge of the Sands (Short Story)

As I stand on a beach I think about life, about my purpose here and what it means. I also think about my future, what job I’m going to get and where I’ll live and about my health.

The bookshop (Short Story)

As I enter the bookshop, the smell of paper fills my nose. The shop is presentable, but not clean, there are books in the wrong order and the carpet looks like someone threw up on it. I go towards the Adult section, not caring about what other people are thinking or about who sees me, as a dirty looking middle aged man I should know better, but I don’t care.
As I look for something to ‘read’ and flip though the books the images of all the sexy women in their erotic poses excite me, then I feel a hand is laid upon my shoulder, it’s my wife.
She gives me a stern look and she tells me off for looking at such sleazy material, and drags me out of the shop by the lobe of the ear.

One newspaper flying down the road (Poem)

One newspaper flying down the road, like tumbleweed caught in a draft.
I wait in anticipation as I stand still on the sidewalk, thinking I’m the only person left.
I see the tornado approaching me, like a panicked wild stallion rushing to its escape.
I then feel a hand pull me to safety as the tornado weaves it’s destruction throughout our town, like a bull in a china shop.
I thank my helper and we look at the broken remains of our town.

St Kilda festival rides (Poem)

I look up as I see the arms of the ride, carrying it’s passengers with ease.
I purchase a ticket and get on the ride, and it carries me up high, and I am soon up high.
I feel like I could touch the sky. I look over the natural beauty of the sea as I wait in anticipation for the ride to start,
Soon fear and paranoia accumulate within my soul as I am left hanging in mid-air for the rest of the passengers to get on the ride, feeling like I’m about to drop to the ground, like a boulder falling off the edge of a cliff,
Then the ride begins, slowly swinging us around, then the speed increases faster, the feeling is exhilarating,
The ride continues to swing us around, like a ball on a string, I feel like I’m flying, like I could escape it all, as I get spun around very fast, the ride slowly grinds to a halt.
As I get off the ride I feel dizzy, like I’ve been training for a space mission at NASA, my barings lost like a needle in a haystack.
My adrenalin rush has been satisfied.
